Brotherhood

William Carey Baptist Men's Report
 2010 - 2011
The WCBA Brotherhood was blessed this past year by being able to provide for so many needy families in our community. At Thanksgiving, we fed over 115 and had food left over and used the leftovers for the food distribution through Provision Port on Saturday, November 27th, 2010. We also worked with the schools in the Can-a-thon here in Lincoln County.

On December 16th, 2010, the WCBA Brotherhood helped in hosting a children’s Christmas party at the Charles Gleghorn Center. Toys, hygiene products, and Bibles were collected to share with these families. Coats were donated and each child received a coat. There was food for everyone and the leftover food was distributed through Provision Port’s food distribution on December 18th. At the party, we shared the Christmas story; Bro. Tim Scott provided Christmas music, and Bro. Randy Maxwell, our DOM, told the Greatest Story. We ended the night with singing “Silent Night.” This night was not only a blessing for the children and their families, but also for us. I was honored to be the moderator of this event.

Our first meeting of 2011 was the Stew and Chili Supper at Prospect Baptist Church on Monday, January 24th. There were 125 men representing 11 churches and 10 pastors in attendance. Bro. Claude Rigsby, along with the Apostles II provided our special music, followed by Bro. Bobby Cooper spoke on being committed. A love offering was taken to help the needy families of our community.

Our next meeting was the Buffet at Maranatha Baptist Church on Monday, April 15th, and it was fantastic.    Mark Colbert provided our special music and Bro. Gary Ledbetter who spoke on being servants of God. Over 100 men attended and a love offering was taken for the needy.

On June 10th, we helped to sponsor the Provision Port Gospel Singing on Friday, June 10th. Provision Port provides food for the needy families of Lincoln County. This is a worthwhile cause that the Baptist Men help to support and we would like to thank everyone for their support to Provision Port.

We had a great time at the Brotherhood Fish Fry at Fayetteville FBC on Monday, July 25th. Bro Charlie Hammons and Bro. Donnie Browning did a fantastic job. Bro. Charlie spoke on the Plan of Salvation and leading others to Christ. There were 142 in attendance, 11 pastors, and 16 churches represented. The response to the message was wonderful! Once again, an offering was collected to go to feeding the needy of our community.

Brotherhood helped the WMU with the feeding of the fair workers at the Lincoln County Fair and the booth ministry. This was a great opportunity for us to witness and give out tracks and Bibles. We also want to thank Jim Baird and the Disaster Team for their support with allowing us to park in the parking lot of the new Disaster Relief location on Hedgemont Avenue.

On Monday, September 25th, Cash Point Baptist Church hosted a “Family Event” in which we partnered with the WMU, and it was a great success. Cash Point did a great job on all the preparations in providing the spaghetti (and lasagna) supper with all the fixings. The decorations and the hospitality were wonderful. We had 150 in attendance, representing 16 churches, and 6 pastors. Nici Carpenter Gill sang several songs for us, with a standing ovation of her rendition of “How Great Thou Art”. Dr. Tony Rankin, TBC Family Ministries Counselor, spoke to us on family values. The presence of God was felt by all who attended. We are looking forward to having Bro. Tony again in April at Maranatha for another “Family Event”.

Respectfully submitted,
Wayne Jean, Brotherhood Director
